TACALOA — COMEDOR DE TACOS Y TORTILLAS

  • Identity

Tacaloa is a Mexican restaurant in Bogotá led by chef Santiago Muñoz Moctezuma, where cuisine becomes a way of carrying territory across borders. Rooted in Mexican culinary traditions and reinterpreted within the Colombian context, the project explores how heritage can travel, adapt, and remain honest without losing its depth.

At the heart of Tacaloa lies corn — a shared, ancestral element between Mexico and Colombia. More than an ingredient, it acts as a cultural bridge: a symbol of land, memory, and continuity that informs the restaurant’s identity, from its flavors to its atmosphere.

From NDS, we shaped this narrative into a visual identity system that avoids folklore and embraces meaning. Through a warm, restrained, and purposeful language, design becomes an extension of the culinary experience — translating origin, craft, and intention into a coherent visual expression.
